Another Mom Shamed Me on Facebook
They rightfully pointed out my kids are filthy on the playground....but it was more than that.
My kids are so dirty. Like SO dirty. They roll around in dirt at the playground. They might even eat it. They’ve definitely licked it. They take off their shoes (and sometimes articles of clothing) every chance they get. They encourage others to do the same. In short, they are really happy kids. They love life with a fervor I wish I could replicate. And when they get home I bathe them and they are briefly clean again. Or sometimes I don’t because I’m tired and I know they will just get filthy again.
Recently, a fellow city mom shamed me for my kids for being so dirty in an actual Facebook mom forum.
I didn’t see this Facebook mom forum because I don’t go on Facebook or really engage in online momming. Who has the fucking time? It happened while I was in New York for a podcast meeting and I started getting texts and calls about it from other school moms. Here I am in a meeting…not expecting to be shamed.
Oh also I was so fucking pregnant at the time. How pregnant? Here’s a picture of how pregnant I was (with a bowl full of butter).
This is a thing that happened about a year ago and I wasn’t sure I would ever write about it because it was so strange and traumatizing and made me want to quit the Internet full stop because people are crazy. I’m going to give the short version here because all the details are just too much.
