My friend Elise (of FoxFamilyDen) was in convo with me last night and we made a video y’all might like :)
Hellllllo from the Amtrak. I am heading from Chicago to Milwaukee and my alarm didn’t go off this morning so I almost didn’t make it and every other Amtrak for the rest of the day is sold out. But here I am and Nick Aster and the feral children will hopefully be waiting for me with coffee on the other side.
It’s been a whirlwind man. So much to tell you. First I want to recommend a book I just finished on the plane, A Marriage at Sea.
It’s non-fiction but reads like a novel. It’s the true story of a couple marooned in the Pacific Ocean for more than a hundred days after a whale capsized their boat. The wife in the story is remarkable. She catches sea turtles and sharks with her bare hands and carves them up for meat and is constantly bailing out the boat. I adore her. My issue with the book (and I kept reading it) is that the husband is the absolute worst. He wallows in self pity the entire time while she is a goddamned hero. It’s an easy, interesting read though and the dynamics of the marriage are fascinating to dissect.

Now onto the highs and lows of book tour including bad Botox, an unfortunate hair dye job, awesome readers and tradwife costume contests.
